ThiruAdi Pooram - The Birth Nakshatram of Andal

August 9 2013 was the great festival of Aadi Pooram -  the birth day of Andal, the youngest and dearest of all the alwars. Her Tiruppavai is known to all vaishnavites.

Tanniyans of Andal or Kodai  :

TANIYAN 1- This Vaazhi ThirunAmam is by VedappirAn Bhattar. This is a salutation to the avathAra Sthalam or birth place of ANDAL .

Meaning:
Srivilliputtur is the birthplace of Goda, Lord Govinda (in the form of Vadapatrasayee) has His abode here:
Here are gem studded uprising palatial mansions:
great devotees of the Lord live here chanting the 4 Vedas;
and, this is also the abode of the great Sri Bhattarpiraan (Vedakkone)

Meaning:
paathakangal theerkkum : They will remove all our sins that stand in the way of moksham.

Paraman Adi Kaattum: They will show us the means to reach the divine feet of the Lord (Paraman)

Vedam anaithukkum vithu aagum: they are the very seeds of the Vedas. (Nammaazhwaars Srisookthis may be the essence of Vedas,  Mahaabhaarata may be the fifth Vedam, But, Tiruppaavai is hailed as the very seed from which the
Vedas sprouted.)

aiyaindum aindum ariyaada maaniDarai vaiyam sumappaduvum vambuThose who do not know the paasurams of thiruppavai sung by sri andal are a burden to this earth.

Meaning:

tiruvADippUrattu jagattudittAL vAzhiyE :  Long live the one who was born in the month of Aashaada in the constellation of Poorva Phalguni.

Thiruppavai Muppadhaum cheppinaal Vaazhiye :  Long live the one who spoke out the thirty verses of Thiru-p-pAvai.

periyAzhvaar peRRedutta peN piLLai vAzhiyE:   Long live the one who was born to Periyaazhwaar

Perum pudoor mAmunikku pinnAnAL vAzhiye :  Long live the one who became the younger sister of Perumpudur Maamuni (Bhagavad Ramaanujar).

Oru nooTru naarpattu moonruraittaaL vaazhiyE:   Long live the one who composed a poem of 143 verses. This is
Naachiyaar Tirumozhi which contains details of every step of her Dream Wedding with the Lord.

Uyar arangaRkE kaNNi ugandu azhaittAL vAzhiyE:   Long live the one who happily gave Herself up to Ranganatha, the Supreme Lord.

MaruVaarum Thirumalli Vaazhanadu Vaazhiye:  Long live the one, who was born in the prosperous land (Valnaadu) permeated by fragrance of flowers. This refers to the prosperity of Her birthplace and the fragrance of Bhakti that filled the air there.

4.KODAI THIRUNAKSHATRAM TANIYAN

"KarkatE pUrva phalguNyAm thulasi kAnanOdhvhavAm
pANdyE visvambharAm gOdAm, vandE srI ranganAyakIm"
I worship Sri Ranganatha's consort (Andal), born in a Tulasi grove in the month of AshAda (Tamil month-Aadi) in the Pandya desam. This Andal is the  manifestation of BhudEvi (Supporter of the universe).

GOdhA Tasyai Nama idhamidham bhUya yEvAsthu BhUya:

Meaning:
May I offer my obeisance again and again to Goddess ANDAL alias  GOdhA --to her alone--who awakened Lord KrishNA (taking
rest and)sleeping on the mountain-like lofty breasts of Goddess NILA alias Nappinnai PirAtti; GOdhA , who has imparted to Him ( Lord KrishNA )Her dependence ( on Him ) as established in the hundreds of the texts of the crown of the VedAs( Viz. the VedAnthA or the Upanishads); and GOdhA , who forcefully enjoys Him after binding Him with flower-wreaths that were already worn by Her.
